Laval, QC — Unitronic is proud to announce its partnership with Rains Racing, an up-and-coming team competing in the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car (TC) class, based out of Birmingham, Alabama.
Rains Racing has chosen Unitronic to provide its engine calibrations and support for both their Volkswagen Jetta GLI and Volkswagen GTI. “When helping form Rains Racing I knew it was critical we chose the right car manufacturer and partners to go alongside.” said Mikey Taylor, driver of Rains Racing's #26 Unitronic Volkswagen Jetta GLI. “Unitronic was always on our radar when thinking about the power units and the team at Unitronic has been immensely supportive and proactive working to help us better our program. [After] working with their calibration experts, it's easy to see why this company is so successful and why we are seeing them become the preferred option for Volkswagen and Audi enthusiasts worldwide. As we progress as a racing team, our goal is to allow Unitronic to further test and enhance their ECU calibrations, which, translates to their Clients benefiting from such.”
The Team's #26 Unitronic Volkswagen Jetta GLI, driven by Mikey Taylor and #44 National Bank of Commerce Volkswagen GTI, driven by Andrew Rains both will be utilizing Unitronic ECU Performance Software, specifically developed for Rains Racing's Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car efforts, taking its roots from Unitronic's Performance Software available for street cars through its worldwide Authorized Dealer Network.

In the team's pro debut in the Pirelli World Challenge series last weekend, held at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, despite some ups and downs that go along with racing, it was a great first outing overall. Mikey managed to pilot the #26 Unitronic Volkswagen Jetta GLI to run in the top five all three races and qualified as high as fourth place, with lap times on par with the leaders in the class. Andrew was close to bringing the #44 National Bank of Commerce Volkswagen GTI home with a seventh place finish before suffering from some mechanical issues on the second to last lap.
