On the evening of August 21st 2012, Unitronic made its way to the Napierville International Dragway for a night of testing to see what our project cars could do. Seeing as this was the first time any of the cars would be on the dragstrip, we were excited to see what kind of numbers we could squeeze out of these street monsters! As we warmed up the Rabbit to hit the strip for a warm-up run, the team prepped the other cars. The Rabbit hit the strip and completely lit up all 4 wheels in 1st, shifted into second a bit late, held 3rd a little too long, and finished the pass at 11.55 @ 123.7mph; what we would soon find out to be a WORLD Record for the fastest street legal MK5 Rabbit ever! As we lined up for the 2nd pass, hoping for 10's with a better launch and better shifts, we had a small issue… The car sheared an axle on the launch!
As our world record pass was a warm up run, we didn't have any footage of the run and had to take footage from a friend at the strip for the official pass which didn't capture the time of the run. However, we WILL be back in early October with new axles, the same engine setup, and shooting for low 11's, high 10's!
The record was done on an OEM MK5 Rabbit chassis, Unitronic software, 4motion Haldex conversion, Street tires, full interior, and pump fuel!
